Oh dear. Now there’s a legal precedent that says that software developers are responsible for how end users use their creations. So the writers of eMule are responsible for the actions of people using the software to download copyright music and video. And the makers of DVD Decrypter are now responsible for the actions of users using it to crack protection on DVDs.
But… if both of these apps run on Windows, does that not mean the Microsoft are responsible for these ‘bad apples’? Without Windows or some operating system, they wouldn’t be able to download / copy.
Or what about the writers of the modem drivers?
I just don’t see how a manufacturer can be totally responsible for what end users do with their creations. Can you sue B&Q because some nutcase attacked you with a hammer?
